He's pursuing you...

5.20.2010

No hunting or fishing adventures this week, but it's refreshing to get back to the Bigger Adventure in this week's blog...

I was driving up I-5 Saturday, thinking about this blog and life in general, when the song “Beloved” by Tenth Avenue North began playing… a song I’ve heard and liked for over a year now… but this weekend, this time through, it hit me like never before. Perhaps it was the first time I’d actually listened to the words the way they were meant to be heard. Reflections of my own life experiences and great conversations I’ve had with some of you in the past weeks came to mind… about more than just hunting or the outdoors, but about life… about God… how we all have events in the past we’d rather not relive or discuss, struggles we hide daily, embarrassment felt in our relationship with Christ or lack thereof… doubt… guilt… resentment… fear… unworthiness… resignation.

But you know what? Being a Christian isn’t about being perfect, it’s about realizing we’re not perfect! The bliss felt when you accept Christ, the infamous “happiness” portrayed by Christians, doesn’t come from figuring
this life out, but from figuring eternal life out! Who do you know that defines Christianity based on those who follow it rather than the message it proclaims, the life of Christ in which it rests, and the profound proofs the Bible contains? We’ve all got crap in our life, Christian or not… in our past, present, and in our future. A good friend once told me, life isn’t peaks and valleys like often referred to... you’re either headed out of something, in the middle of something, or headed into something. And Christ's death covers ALL... from before you believed, to after you were saved, until that day we meet him face to face!

The lyrics below, from the song I mentioned earlier, are God’s words to all of us… let Him speak to you. You ARE His beloved… and He’s pursuing you every moment of every day. Let him in… show others that it’s okay to let Him in. As Scott put it a couple weeks back, LEAVE A TRACE.
Just click "play" in the playlist below to hear the song.

From God to us all: Love of my life, look deep in my eyes, there you will find what you need. Give me your life, the lust and the lies, the past you’re afraid I might see. You’ve been runnin’ away from me… you’re my beloved, lover I’m yours. Death shall not part us, it’s you I died for. For better or worse, forever we’ll be… my love it unites us, and it binds you to me… it’s a mystery...

Amen, well said....and may it be so for today and every day ahead of us. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you!" WE SURRENDER OURSELVES ONCE AGAIN TO YOU, OH LORD!
